Hello I'm Allison McNair. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook.

Less oil will be exported from Iraq, at least for the time being. That was the decision announced Monday as a protest of the 11-day-old Israeli military action in the West Bank. Oil prices moved higher, but the OPEC oil cartel said will intervene to protect the world's oil supply, if necessary.
Meanwhile, the conflict continues.

Despite repeated U-S and U-N requests to end its incursions into Palestinian territories, the Israeli military continued its operations in the West Bank. Speaking to the Israeli Knesset, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said that Israel will not withdraw until its mission is complete.
Meanwhile, President Bush again called for an end to the military action by the Israelis and a halt of Palestinian terrorist attacks.
"First of all, I meant what I said to the Prime Minster of Israel. I expect there to be withdrawal w/o delay. And I also meant what I said, ah, the Arab World. That in order for there to be peace, nations must stand-up, leaders must stand-up and condemn terrorism and terrorist activity. There is a mutual responsibility to achieve peace."
Traveling in Morocco, Secretary of State Colin Powell said Israel's military action is having a "severe and significant impact" on the Palestinians, and he wants it to end soon.
Powell - who travels to Israel later in the week with hopes of brokering a ceasefire - has indicated he would meet with Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat if circumstances permit.

Israeli-Palestinian Discussion
Starting question: There is certainly an element of fear among both Israelis and Palestinians. The Israelis are afraid of terrorist bombings, the Palestinians are afraid of the Israeli military action. Zvi, what is life like in Israel these days?
Philip, you have spoken with people in Ramallah. What is the perspective of people there?
Let's go back to when this recent round of violence began, about a year and a half ago, what is your opinion about what caused that.
The leadership of the PLO has stayed the same over decades, while the leadership of Israel has changed many times. Can you talk about the different styles of peace negotiations from Rabin to Netanyahu, to Barak, to Sharon?
Sharon and Arafat have had, for lack of a better term, a feud dating back decades. Sharon played a role in kicking Arafat out of Beirut, Arafat blames Sharon for attacks on Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, and Sharon has publicly said he wishes that the Israeli military had killed Arafat when it had the chance years ago. Has that history been a major obstacle in this?
Can a peace agreement be reached by Arafat and Sharon?
What do you expect the Israeli response to be to the U.S. and the U.N. Security Council's requests to withdraw its troops from Palestinian territories?
Has their military action been, in your opinion, effective? Or has it made the situation worse?
What can stop this cycle of violence? For example, there is a suicide bombing against Israeli civilians, and the Israeli military attacks Palestinian targets. Then there are more suicide bombings. What needs to happen to stop this?
What are the possible scenarios for peace? Which nations in the region want to see two separate states, and which nations do not?
What is the potential economic impact on the rest of the world, for example oil prices?
What is the connection between the mideast conflict, the U.S' war on terrorism and possible military action against Iraq?

A flood of sexual abuse allegations was levied against a former Massachusetts priest Monday.
This time, the attorney laid out his case with a 2 and a half hour power point presentation outlining documents released under court order by the Archidiocese of Boston. All involve Revered Paul Shanley who worked in the Boston area, California and New York. Several pieces of correspondence showed the signature of Mancheseter Diocese Bishop John McCormack. McCormack serrved in the Boston Archdiocese as Director of Minesterial personnel in the 1990s. Attorney Eric MacLeish says McCormack may be named as a defendant in the lawsuit later this week.

In a statement Bishop McCormack said he is sorry for the harm and hurt done by priests who broke the trust of their office. He says no priest will serve in pastoral ministry once a credible accusation of sexual misconduct is made known to the Bishop's Office.
